Katherine Dossman Casallas (k2man*) is an artist, character designer, illustrator, ceramist, urban artist and art director.

They always ask me where I'm from. I don't know if a person “is” from a place, rather I think that we “come” from one place and go to another. And that's what happens to my characters, they come from their world. From a land mainly populated by animals: monkeys, rabbits, shrews, reindeer, cats, foxes. Beings completely aware of their own existence. They inhabit notebooks, paintings, walls and screens. Anywhere they feel alive. Very rarely do they ask me where I am going. Being an artist allowed me to answer that question by drawing. I go where my characters go, to the next forest where an Elephant Shrew lives, to the next place where life takes us.

Siempre me preguntan de dónde soy. Yo no sé si una persona “es” de un lugar, más bien creo que “venimos” de un lugar y vamos hacia a otro. Y eso es lo que le pasa a mis personajes, vienen desde su mundo. De una tierra principalmente poblada de animales: monos, conejos, musarañas, renos, gatos, zorros. Seres completamente conscientes de su propia existencia. Habitan cuadernos, cuadros, paredes y pantallas. En cualquier lugar donde se sientan vivos. Muy pocas veces me preguntan a dónde voy. Ser ilustradora me permitió responderme esa pregunta dibujando. Voy a donde van mis personajes, al próximo bosque donde habite una Musaraña Elefante, al próximo lugar donde nos lleve la vida.
